Introducing… Miss Adventure

October 12, 2017

Hello, fellow Miss Fisher Philes!

As our MFMM episode recaps near the end of Season 2, a question we’ve heard from listeners… “what will you do when you reach the end of the show?”… has been looming larger. The truth is we love podcasting and really enjoy conversations with each other, so we have also been wondering what the next step should be.

The answer came to us over the summer when we realized that our conversations often come back to one particular topic: travel. We’re taking a cue from Miss Fisher and setting out on a new adventure. We are starting a travel podcast!

The Miss Adventure Podcast (title inspired by S1 E10, of course, and cover artwork by Chandler) will feature stories about our travels and sometimes feature interviews with other women who travel. Don’t worry—we will continue to have fun going down rabbit holes and nerding out over obscure things related to art, design, clothing and architecture.

Our first episode is called “Why We Travel,” and we discuss Chandler’s travel sketchbooks (see below), her work on the illustrated West Coast Atlas (due in 2019), day trips to Seattle, Orcas Island, active recovery, artist dates, family trips, Route 66, secret trips, the Oregon Trail, and Chandler’s 6500-mile road trip.

To help get you acquainted, we’re putting the first episode of the podcast into this feed. After that, you’ll have to subscribe separately. Here are some ways to do that:

To see more of Chandler’s travel sketchbooks, check out her Drawn the Road Again blog.

We look forward to having you with us on our new journey. Bon voyage!

Sincerely,

Mary and Chandler

Have you watched “A Place to Call Home”? It’s an Australian soap opera/drama set in the early 1950s. It has everything: great costumes, religious persecution, classism, anti-immigrant sentiment, closeted gay characters and bitchiness on par with “Dynasty”. You will recognize actors who have been on Miss Fisher.

    • Hi Julie! Thanks for letting us know about “A Place to Call Home.” We haven’t heard about this show, but it sounds like something we’d really enjoy! We’ll definitely check it out. Thanks for the heads up!
